Okay, fellow quilter, nerds, sewers, anyone at all: Is the background too busy with the patterned hat and cloak? I think it might be. It’s fine if it is, because I have a few more blocks to make. So I would still use it for another block that I would use less busy fabric in the actual character. What do you all think?
Generally, I have learned that if I think there might be an issue with my quilt, there usually is one, so if you think it is too busy, trust that instinct. To me, it is a little on the busy side, but I am not sure if it is too busy or not. Or maybe there just isn’t enough difference in the color values in the two prints? It is very cute, though, so if you like it as is, go for it….again, just trust what your instincts tell you. From what you have posted, you have a great eye, so your gut is probably right!
too busy sweets..
When you have to stop and concentrate to visually separate the foreground from the background, it’s time to change. That nagging inner voice is being honest.
I agree with Snarky Pam. I don’t think it’s too busy, but I think the color and scale of the red part of the background print is too similar to the robe.
I have to agree with Pam. If you think it’s too busy; it is. Go with your gut.
