My Zelda Quilt: Started The Quilting

It only took me a couple days and a few dozen cups of tea, but I have started to quilt this beautiful masterpiece. I cannot wait until I put the binding on, wash it, and snuggle up under it. This will be the first large quilt I have made for myself. The 4ths Queen that I have quilted, and the 9th Queen sized top I had made. I’m really excited for it to be done! Hopefully I’ll finish the quilting on the background tonight, and then I’ll do the turquoise bird and triforces tomorrow and bind it!

Wish me luck!

Some New Year’s Shenanigans!

So here we are, at the end of the year, and what do we all have to show for it? Hopefully a few less UFOs than when we started, but I think I might actually have more! That is once again going to be my New Year’s resolution. To make sure I finish more projects! Also… to do more projects. I want to be more productive! I also want a dog… but maybe I’ll just have to settle for finding a significant other I can quilt with. Oh well!

I’m Alive!!!

I’m finally feeling better! I’ve still been hacking up something terrible, but between the herbal peach tea and the Legend of Zelda Games, I’m feeling better! I have a few errands to run, but once I do that I will start the quilting on my new quilt! I’m so excited! Also, I got the hover boots in Ocarina of Time… as a kid! (Only my video game oriented followers will get that.)

Pinned It!

I totally ended up working up a sweat pinning this quilt. It was tres exhausting. I’m about to crash back in bed, and later tonight I think I’m going to make mini-pizzas in my toaster oven. That sounds delightful! Maybe I’ll even start quilting this later today, but that is a big IF.

Home Sick From Work

Today I am home sick from work, and I’m lying in bed and watching Melissa and Joey on Netflix. I’m chugging tea non-stop and my throat feels a little better. I’ve also been holding my head over my humidifier. It’s been helping a little. Maybe if I somehow gather the energy I will go and pin my Zelda quilt.

Confessions of a Quilt-aholic: Have I Reached My Zenith?

keep-calm-and-quilt-on-147

As I sit here pondering quilt designs, I cannot help but think about the one question all artisans ponder: Have I reached my Zenith? I’ve blogged about running out of inspiration before, but this is a slightly different topic. Is my best work behind me?

I feel like a lot of artists / artisans go through this phase, where they are scared that their best work is behind them. I feel like with ‘Frozen Star’ I have reached one of the best things I could have ever done. I love that quilt, and a lot of other people do as well. What if in the past 18 months I have already accomplished my best work? What can I do? Do I power on, and keep trying, or do I become content with that and just continue working knowing that my best is past? Continue reading

Pieced My Backing For My Zelda Quilt

I was looking for some backing fabric and I stumbled across a stash of flannels from a garage sale where I bought 3 boxes of fabric. I had to use three different colors, but i got my backing made and I feel tired and dizzy at the moment, but possibly later tonight I will pin the quilt. I do hope to pick out a dinding and at least have that cut and pieced together. One can only hope!
