About Two Thirds Done – Silky Blooming 9 Patch

IMG_20180416_110236332.jpg

I’m almost done! I still have to finish the last two corners, but it’s coming together quite nicely! I just love this silky print fabric! I know a lot of people say you can’t mix fabrics, but I’ve always been a renegade! I’ll admit, it wasn’t as easy as working with regular quilting fabric, but it also wasn’t terrible. Hopefully I’ll finish up the top this weekend! Wish me luck!

I Got An Ashford Loom!

IMG_20180421_102832931.jpg

I got an Ashford 24″ Rigid Heddle Loom, and yes, it’s amazing!

I’ve always been interested in looms. Ever since I was a little kid in boy scouts, I can remember going to an old farm house that had a giant floor loom, and being amazed by it. Now that I’m a 20-something, I’m even more astounded by them! I started out with this Ashford 24″, and I can already see myself investing in a floor loom… One of these days!

I’ve been weaving this scarf, and I just love it! It actually goes by rather quickly. I’m almost done with it already. I used all sorts of funky yarn. I even made some from strips of quilting fabric, and some from t-shirts, and old hats. It’s quite the textured hot mess you assume it would be, but I love it! I’m so excited to finish it off, and start work on my next project… A Rug!

Untitled Blooming 9 Patch With Mixed Fabric

Last month was about working on quilts with knit fabric. This month is all about the silky print polyester! This piece is about one third of the way done, and hopefully I’ll have an updated photo for you by the end of the week. I’ll be honest it wasn’t easy, but now that I have it down, I’m really finding it easy to work with. I made a promise to myself to use of fabric in my stash, and this silky print has been in it for quite a while. there are about 5 bolts of other polyester fabrics I want to use up, and trust me, I already have designs for them, just need the time to sew them! Wish me luck!

‘The Woods’ Quilt

IMG_20180412_121351448.jpg

I’m not typically an earth tone person, but hey, I’ll tell you what… This shit is on hit! It’s made from quilting cotton, and knit acrylic fabric, that I even knit myself at work. I’m really digging the texture it lends this quilt. It also gave me an excuse to use up some brown jelly roll strips I had left over from another project.

Now I just have to find time to quilt it… Wish me luck!
