So, I wasn’t quite sure what to do for this quilt. I had wanted to do something with Jelly rolls for a while and figured I would cut my own and see what I can do. This design popped into my head around 4:30am and I just ran with it! I’m going to use some kind of sashing, but not sure on the color yet. What does everyone think?
It took me a while, but I finally got all the fabrics together and started cutting them for this amazing quilt! I’m super excited to start on it tonight. I can’t quite explain the design, but once I start it, I’ll post lots of pictures! Also, I think this is my first time using Jelly Roll size strips in a project. We’ll see how it turns out! Wish me luck!
Man, this flu has hit me pretty hard. It’s like I’m short of breath after sewing for 5 minutes. This needs to be over quickly! In the mean time, I did make this gorgeous throw pillow! I even started work on my next commission quilt. I think it is going to be fabulous! Here are some pictures of the pillows, and later I’ll post the fabric for the new quilt.
I’ve been getting over this cold, and no that I am, it is time for some hardcore sewing! No sleep tonight, just sewing!
One of the first things I hear when it comes to quilting is if it didn’t have so much math involved it would be so much easier? What do you think? For me math is easy, and I think I kind of take it for granted…
Well, I’ve been making some stuff for the store I work at, and I wanted to work with some variegated thread. I’m beyond in love! I also played around with Viking’s 6D software… It’s actually pretty easy. I designed the 2 hearts, and the “When You Wish…” piece myself. It was actually surprisingly easy. Well, most of it anyways. It got stuck in the bad weather in the Northeast and I had to wait for it. I’m still waiting for a bolt of light lime colored fabric so I can start on a commission quilt I have. I’m also going to use the purple and orange for the curtains in my bedroom! I’m so excited! I’m going to watch Mr. Nobody and get a cutting on the fabric I have. Wish me luck!
Well, my original weekend plans were to make a quilt top, but because of the weather, my fabric shipment got delayed and I couldn’t. So instead I broke out the serger, and got the knits I got on clearance at Joann’s, and I made some scarves. I even made a 14 foot scarf for myself! I’m not going to lie, I just love playing with it! Now that my fabric came today I can get started on cutting the fabric for the quilt. Wish me luck!
So we started carrying a new thread at the shop I work at, and they have this line called ‘Mirage’ and it is all randomly dyed variegated thread, so it is very blend-able. I bought more, but I haven’t had the chance to do anything with it yet. I was kind of skeptical because it was rayon, and I’m not a huge fan of rayon thread, but it holds up quite nicely after being washed, so I broke down and bought some! I’m not sure what I’m going to do with these fun new variegated threads, but I’ll figure something out!
