May 31st, 2017 – More Leaked Screenshots!

how-dare-you-talk-about-quilters-behind-their-back-especially-ones-better-than-you-7d088

Today, is a sad day. Quiltgate is getting deep, and I have fallen down the rabbit hole… I have more screenshots from the secret quilters group, now renamed “Conservative With Common Interest”. The Hate in these is ridiculous. One person even tells others to report quilters they don’t like to the IRS, and for what reason, other than to stick them with an audit to tie up their time. (This is literally accusing someone of a felony offense.) Other topics include Threads of Resistance, MQX, and Jinny Beyer. You know, a valuable lesson could be learned, and even should be learned. What you do in darkness always comes to the light! Once again, this is classified as bullying. Just bullying, plain and simple. I cannot stress enough how the activity outline in the follow posts is unacceptable. The longer this goes on, without any of these big named quilters standing up to hate, I become more jaded about the quilting community.

If you would like to see them, there are 18. 18 pages of group conversation. 18 pages of trying to harm people’s careers. Continue reading

Another Response

and-thats-why-if-we-wouldnt-say-it-to-someones-face-we-shouldnt-type-it-on-the-internet-08922

It’s 7am. I’m getting ready for work. I was thinking about a response I got yesterday evening… I must say, it’s a heck of a lot better than the last one! This one actually sounds thought out. The last one was vulgar. Vulgar in it’s simplicity. Vulgar in its message. This one is not vulgar. I’m glad she wrote apologies to the people involved. I’m glad she actively tried to do something. Did Some Insane Work This Weekend!

Here we are, it’s 2017, and cities in the United States don’t have clean water. The title of this quit is ‘Flint’. If I need to explain it, you’re just not paying any attention. However, I feel like I’m in a giving mood, so let me break it down for you. Flint Michigan hasn’t had clean water for quite a few years already. They’re water is contaminated with all sorts of toxins, including lead. What also makes it note worthy, is the fact that it’s no longer in the news. People have forgotten that Flint still doesn’t have clean water!  Continue reading

Screenshots From This Morning

more hate.jpg

It’s a beautiful Sunday, or at least it was… As I posted earlier about Linda Thielfoldt teaching at AQS, I had no idea the comment section was becoming quite the battleground. I did get called, “Eric the what’s his face“, because ‘The Quilter’ is just too much to remember. I’m not going to lie, that did make me giggle. We know there was a hate group, and we have their screenshots. Today we have a couple more items of debauchery to share with you. Continue reading

AQS Sure Doesn’t Seem To Mind

Untitled-6.jpg

Yesterday evening I reached out to AQS for a comment on the issues in the quilting community. They have not responded as of Sunday mid-day. Clearly they do not seem to mind. The image above is on the American Quilter’s Society facebook page. The caption above the photo reads…

Linda Thielfoldt—an award winning quilter and owner of The Quilted Goose in Troy, Michigan—has been quilting for over 40 years. She loves to share quilting knowledge as a teacher of quiltmaking and machine quilting. Linda’s classes are taught in a no-rules, fun, and lively style that provides inspiration and new ideas. She offers a wide variety of classes including quilting, piecing, appliqué, and everything in between.

I Reached Out…

hello-quilt-police-id-like-to-report-an-incident-yes-ill-hold-976fd

I did some soul searching over the past couple of days.

You see, at first I was upset many of these big name quilters and quilting companies were not saying anything on the topic. As I pondered what must be going through the heads of these titans in the quilting industry, I figured… Just ask them. Just ask them, what could it hurt to ask as to why they have been silent. Ask them if they will take a stand against bullying. So I was up late yesterday getting a list together of companies and people to email. I did hear back from a few, but I’ll give it until Tuesday to hear back from more.

I also took the time to reach out to the bullies themselves and ask them about what they did. I heard back from a few, but with the holiday not much is going on. I couldn’t even find a few of the people from the list, but I contacted the ones I could. In order to heal, there is a conversation that must happen, but it’s very hard to have a conversation when everyone is silent… I’ll wait until Tuesday.

My Batik Charm Quilt

IMG_20170526_182818.jpg

I was at work today, contemplating about what the heck to do with all of those charm squares I had decided to start sewing together. Part of me just thought, well just make a giant nickel quilt, but then I have the matching Jelly rolls to play with as well. There were a lot of possibilities, and I think this one is going to work for me! Wish me luck! Maybe I’ll have half the top done by Monday!!!! Fingers crossed!

A Batik Quilt To Occupy Me

IMG_20170525_200606251

I had a bunch of charm packs floating around my sewing room, and they called to me today! I’m more sure what I’m doing, but I’ll keep you posted! I started sewing the squares together, but I have no idea what I’m going to do. I have a loose plan in my head, but we’ll see how that goes. For all I know I’ll either applique or paint something on top of it. I had 5 – 40 piece charm packs hiding in my stash… Well, they weren’t alone… I ripped open all the packages, and splayed them out, and got to work!

Sexism In Quilting – The Conversation Worth Having

IMG_3425

Today is a another special occasion. I have an interview with a blogger and quilter. I just met Stephanie in a Fiber Artist group online…. No, it was not secret. As we all know, I’m working on a set of 4 interviews with people who have been victims of Homophobia, Racism, Sexism, and Ignorance, as these are the themes for a quilt I’m working on for the Human Rights Campaign Dinner. This is our second interview. Her name is
