Hell’s Kitchen: Quilting Finished

18 Jun

IT took a while, and there are a few mistakes, but damn it, it looks good! This is the quilt that was quilted with my embroidery machine. There are a few vertical lines quilted into it, because I really wanted to keep the vertical aspects of the buildings evident. I’m just so in love with it, but now I cannot find a binding I like. I might have to go and get some solid black. (Don’t ask why I’m out of it; I have clearly been slacking on my inventory.) Well, now that I get to see it when it is done, I love the way the embroidery motif looks! It took about 20 hours to quilt it, but you know, it was totally worth it! I can’t wait to finish it, so I can take pictures of it to enter in shows.

24 May

Today is a another special occasion. I have an interview with a blogger and quilter. I just met Stephanie in a Fiber Artist group online…. No, it was not secret. As we all know, I’m working on a set of 4 interviews with people who have been victims of Homophobia, Racism, Sexism, and Ignorance, as these are the themes for a quilt I’m working on for the Human Rights Campaign Dinner. This is our second interview. Her name is

Work Work Work Work Work

7 Feb

I have been pulling 60 hour weeks and I need a break! Tonight I dug out this quilt top and laid it out on my table and I’m plotting a way to quilt it! I was thinking stitch in the ditch, but to be honest, I’m not sure. Any suggestions?

My Summer Quilt Is Quilted

21 Dec

It took quite a while, but I finally got around to quilting it! Considering I made the quilt top many moons ago, it has been sitting on the end table in my guest room for quite some time, and I just couldn’t take it anymore! It had to be quilted so here it is! I actually have enough fabric already cut to do a matching queen size quilt for my room! I used a gorgeous simple purple mottled fabric for the backing as well as the binding. It just turned out so perfect, and it is now hanging up in the shop I work at! I can’t wait to make the queen sized one!

I Am Officially Done With Crazy Quilt Number 2!

24 Jun

I did it! It’s all done! Took me quite a while, but It is all done, and I already gave it to my boss as a birthday present! It is only a couple of months late, but oh well. Crafters and sewists who give gifts understand. I mean, I still have my one cousin’s wedding present to finish quilting, and it has only been a year or so… maybe 2 years, but who is counting! Not me! I just love crazy quilts! I cannot wait to work on my new one. It’s going to be greens, purples, and browns! I’m just so excited! I did tons of free motions work, and lots of embroideries! I’m just really stoked about the way it turned out! I used a red binding to make it pop, and a blur background to be ironic! What does everyone think?

Working On The Quilting For My Second Crazy Quilt

14 Jun

I’m quilting this masterpiece, and I’ve done stippling, quilting decorative stitches, some fancy heirloom quilting, and now I’m just adding more thread! I really think there has to at least by 3000 yards in this quilt. That’s kind of a lot of thread isn’t it?

Guess What I’m Making

1 Jun

I took a break from my heavy quilting schedule to bring everyone this little fun game! Guess what I’m making! I’ll give you a hint… It’s made with a lot of satin stitches!
