Just Some Recent Quilts because I Haven’t Forgotten How To Sew Yet

Just wanted to share some pieces I’ve had on the backburner. I almost forgot I had this blog. It’s been a crazy 2 years. Hopefully After the Holidays I’ll get back on it.

Canvas Art Update

The studio de Eric has been in full swing… Well, trying to be in full swing. I’m still taking time for small existential breakdowns. Trying to keep busy, and focus on making some art! I’ve been digging through all of my half finished projects, and trying to do something with them! I’ve even been quilting! I have a quilt top finished, and hopefully I’ll start quilting it tonight! I’ve decided to give you guys a teaser of some of the projects currently on the slab. Keep in mind, these are not completed pieces, so they will look quite a bit different by the time I finish them!

Finally Finished The Quilting!

IMG_20180416_110447079.jpg

I’m not even going to lie; this quilt has been sitting around for over a year, maybe two. It was one of the first pieces I did with my painted fabric. I finally took it off the shelf, and started quilting it. Now to bind it! I made this quilt for a friend, so hopefully I’ll be able to give it to her soon! Wish me luck!

I Started A New Quilt

img_20180311_210125438.jpg

I started a new quilt… not that I don’t have a bunch started. We all know how that goes. I’m also trying to go through all of my damn jelly rolls. I did a count, and I have over 70 jelly roll packs. Here is one down!

I’m not sure what I’m going to name it yet, but something about it screams “On Fire”. Can you tell I have a quilt type??? Hopefully I’ll finish this soon.

Hell’s Kitchen: Quilting Finished

IMG_20170618_124126785.jpg

IT took a while, and there are a few mistakes, but damn it, it looks good! This is the quilt that was quilted with my embroidery machine. There are a few vertical lines quilted into it, because I really wanted to keep the vertical aspects of the buildings evident. I’m just so in love with it, but now I cannot find a binding I like. I might have to go and get some solid black. (Don’t ask why I’m out of it; I have clearly been slacking on my inventory.) Well, now that I get to see it when it is done, I love the way the embroidery motif looks! It took about 20 hours to quilt it, but you know, it was totally worth it! I can’t wait to finish it, so I can take pictures of it to enter in shows.

Sexism In Quilting – The Conversation Worth Having

IMG_3425

Today is a another special occasion. I have an interview with a blogger and quilter. I just met Stephanie in a Fiber Artist group online…. No, it was not secret. As we all know, I’m working on a set of 4 interviews with people who have been victims of Homophobia, Racism, Sexism, and Ignorance, as these are the themes for a quilt I’m working on for the Human Rights Campaign Dinner. This is our second interview. Her name is

My Summer Quilt Is Quilted

It took quite a while, but I finally got around to quilting it! Considering I made the quilt top many moons ago, it has been sitting on the end table in my guest room for quite some time, and I just couldn’t take it anymore! It had to be quilted so here it is! I actually have enough fabric already cut to do a matching queen size quilt for my room! I used a gorgeous simple purple mottled fabric for the backing as well as the binding. It just turned out so perfect, and it is now hanging up in the shop I work at! I can’t wait to make the queen sized one!

I Am Officially Done With Crazy Quilt Number 2!

I did it! It’s all done! Took me quite a while, but It is all done, and I already gave it to my boss as a birthday present! It is only a couple of months late, but oh well. Crafters and sewists who give gifts understand. I mean, I still have my one cousin’s wedding present to finish quilting, and it has only been a year or so… maybe 2 years, but who is counting! Not me! I just love crazy quilts! I cannot wait to work on my new one. It’s going to be greens, purples, and browns! I’m just so excited! I did tons of free motions work, and lots of embroideries! I’m just really stoked about the way it turned out! I used a red binding to make it pop, and a blur background to be ironic! What does everyone think?
