“A Prayer For Zachary” Blocks Are Almost Done

img_20180129_1608160361.jpg

This was no easy task, but it is almost done. A couple pieces still need to be added here and there, but for the most part, the base of the blocks are done. Now to start adding texture with the tulle, netting, ribbon, and lace. I’m going through a lot of water soluble stabilizer, but I think the results will be ridiculously awesome! You can see some of the white circles are already starting to show up on the quilt blocks. In those spots I took the tulle, ribbon, scraps, netting, and what not, and stitched it down to the blocks.

My sashing comes in tomorrow, and you bet I’ll start adding it on my day off! I’m very excited! Wish me luck!

More Scarves From More Scraps

img_20180111_150622521.jpg

I’ve been a busy little sewer! Well, at least I’m trying to be. When I started making these scarves out of my scraps I had no idea how much fun they would be! I have a green one currently in the works, as well as a pink one, but they still need to have the topper put on, and sewn more. The only trick is, you have to stitch enough to secure everything in place, but not too much to make it too stiff. It’s a little tricky finding the right amount, but once you get the hang of it, it’s so much fun.

Busting My Scrap Pile!!!

img_20180114_174759789.jpg

I have all of these scraps from the commissions I used to do. At first, I figured I would make one last Zelda quilt to sell, but decided to do something else with them. I’m working on a project called “A Prayer”. I’m not ready to say who the prayer is for, but as soon as I am, I’ll tell you the full name of the quilt. Until then, just enjoy all of the lovely green fabric I have lying around!

Making A Baby Quilt

The border still has to be added, and then quilted, but I’m making good progress on the latest baby quilt. I made one similar to this before, and this one is for a boy, so instead of green, purple, red, and orange, this one crosses the color spectrum from orange to blue, and it’s going to have a camouflage flannel border and backing. Hopefully it wll get quilted and bound today, but  that has to wait until after I run some errands! Wish me luck!

Working On A Nickel Quilt

I’m at home. I’m sick. It’s gloomy out… I guess all I can do is quilt! I’m not complaining… Well, maybe a little complaining about being sick, but that’s it. I have this quilt to make for a friend of mine. She’s just so in love with what I have made so far! I can;t wait to finish it! I still have to fade it to red, then pink, then purple, then blue, and make some matching pillow shams, but that’s a walk in the park. The hard part, which is coming up, is making the binding… Well, not so much making it, but picking out a color… Any suggestions?

Work On A Scrappy Chenille Throw Pillow

I had a theory! I was going to post a tutorial for chenille pillows, but I really wanted to see if I could make one with my scraps. I put them all down, and sewed on the bias, so now I’m just waiting to wash it to see if it turns out okay. I wanted to do a chenille pillow with more texture, and I think I’ve got it! I’ll post a picture of it washed sometime later this week, as well as a tutorial for both!

Working On My Latest Crazy Quilt

I finally got back to work on this beautiful piece of color atrocity! I just love it! It is just so bright and annoying! I’m not sure how large I am going to make it, but I’m thinking I’ll make it a larger size throw quilt. Maybe 70″ by 70″. Just a thought! I’ve still got to add a few more embellishments to it. Any idea what else I can add to it?

Made Some Progress On Carzy Quilt #3

I was up late last night working on this tedious beautiful quilt. I love doing crazy quilts, but they take so long to do! I mean, I can work around the puckering of the fabric because of the decorative stitches, but the rub is doing all of these decorative stitches. It is a nice way to use up some thread I didn’t have enough of to do whole projects with at least. At least it is great for mindless sewing work to watch TV during! Speaking of TV, did anyone watch this week’s True Blood??? I think it is starting to get good, and it is about time!

Working On My Third Crazy Quilt

I’m spending my day off working on my crazy quilt for the class I am teaching. I’m currently adding in different strips of color to add size and to add some variety of the rainbow to it. I’m really glad I added that gold to it, it really makes it pop quite a bit! Now to cut and sew in all different directions for the rest of the afternoon! Wish me luck! Maybe I’ll take a break an make a throw pillow at some point!
