I’ve Been Cutting All Of This Fabric For Potholders and Coasters…

Thornton-20130910-00666

I’ve finally got all of the fabric cut to make my coasters and pot holders. These are all of the cut pieces for coasters, and I have a lot of the same fabrics cut in larger squares for pot holders and mug rugs. I don’t know about anyone else but this is putting in the mood for some holiday cheer! AKA: Eggnog and Ginger Cookies!

I’ll post pictures as soon as they are done! Which should be soon! LOL!

I Was Thinking About A Design Wall….

Image from Double Nickle Quilt Challenge

Has anyone ever done one? I think it would be nice to have one! MY friend has one and it seems like it would be nice to be able to throw things up there while I work on piecing it! Does anyone have any feedback on them, the positive and the negatives. Like, would they collect a lot of dust, how do you clean them, and stuff like that!

My Sewing Room Is Almost Set Up!

Hello world!

The past 2 days I have been working on setting up my sewing room! It is a long and arduous process! Lots of reorganizing! The house is a hot mess, and I’m slowly working on straightening it up! Earlier this morning I cut down a 25 foot willow that had taken over the backyard and later today I’m going to trim the hedges out front! Now that my sewing room is almost set up, I’m really itching to make some darn mug rugs and pot holders! Damn it! Hopefully I can soon! Well, I just wanted to give everyone an update on how things are going, and I’ll be back on the horse soon enough! Promise!

Here is the inspiration for my next quilt!

Enjoying My Last Day Off

Center-20130903-00650

It’s Tuesday and it is my last day off from Quilting. Tomorrow I have to finish organizing my sewing room, and then I’m going to start making some mug rugs and pot holders for the Christmas season. I’m excited to work on some fun smaller projects. Later this week I have to start a commission quilt, and the buyer is coming to pick out fabric on Thursday, so I really don’t want to start any other large projects, and I’ve got my week cut out for me!

So today all I did was hang out with some friends in Indiana, and then after dinner I am driving back home. Maybe, if I’m feeling extra motivated, I’ll work on my sewing room, but no one should hold their breath.

But anyways, here are some cute pictures of cats from my friend’s porch!

If I were Oprah, This Would Be One Of My Favorite Things: Avocado Hummus

If I were Oprah, This Would Be One Of My Favorite Things: Avocado Hummus

It’s not hard to make, and I think it is quite fabulous tasting! It’s quite simple, but overly expensive to buy in the store. All you need is a food processor and a few simple ingredients.

Quite A Few Changes

Hello loyal followers of my site! I know it has been a while since I posted anything. I took a mental health holiday, and then I moved to Illinois to help with a family issue. I love Minnesota and plan to be back very shortly, but for the time being I am in The South Suburbs of Chicago. I’m setting up my sewing area, and looking for a quilt guild to join. I did find one near by, it seems small, but we’ll see how the first meeting goes later this month! I’m really excited about all of the changes happening, and I cannot wait to start sewing again! I have everything in the room that will be my sewing room, but have yet to unpack it. Mainly because the table I sew on is so flipping heavy and I don’t have anyone who can help me get it up the stairs into my sewing room. Hopefully I’ll have that straightened out by Tuesday. I just really want to get back to work!

Does anyone know of any quilt guilds in the Chicagoland area? I would love to know of a few! Also, does anyone know anyone who wants to buy a vintage antique loom? Just asking because my friend has one!

Thanks for listening, and I’ll hopefully have some work to show off by the end of the week!!!!
