I Finished Another Quilt… Much Like Katnis Everdeen, I’m On Fire

Busy, Busy, Busy, I’ve been very busy. I currently have the embroidery machine running some Zelda Towels that I have to mail out tomorrow. Then another embroidery project for tomorrow. It is that time of the season, and there is no rest for the wicked. This quilt is for a friend’s Grandmother, and I just hope she loves it. I added some blooming bias to the rail fence blocks, so when she washes it she’ll be in for a surprise. What do you all think?

I Need A Little Christmas, Right This Very Minute!

My Machine made it home. I have decided to name my Ruby Royale…. “Rubeus Hagrid”. I was in a Harry Potter mood… Don’t judge me… I helped a friend with her Halloween costume Friday night, and now tonight I am making snow flake ornaments for my Christmas Tree. I really don’t celebrate Christmas, but I do love a good Christmas tree! I’m making them in metallic and variegated thread. What do you guys and gals think? Any other suggestions for lace ornaments? Anyone try any other thread?

Finished My Nickel Quilt Set… It’s Amazing!

Okay, now everyone knows I’m not into bright cheery colors, but this one does take my breath away! I was a little hesitant when taking this commission, but it turned out great! I really love the pillow shams! Those took a while to get the layout right… Thank goodness for all those math classes I took in college. I cannot wait until I deliver it on Saturday. Wish me luck!

I’m Figuring Out Christmas Presents…

I’m trying to figure out what I can give people en mass for Christmas. I always try to be a good guest, and I always bring my host some kind of gift. So, with the holidays coming up, I am trying to figure out what I can give people as I attend all of these gatherings. I was thinking maybe a table runner? Or trivets? Any suggestions? I would love to hear them!

Finished My Christmas Table Runner Part 1!

I finished one of these marvelous table runners for a class at work, and decided I needed to make another one! In fact, I’m going to make a few of them for Christmas presents with some of the fabric I bought last year after the holidays. I should have a few of them made by next week, so be on the lookout for those coming out! I saw the pattern from Bunnie Cleland and just fell in love! I think they are turning out great!

Stitch In The Ditch With Wonderfil DecoBob

As we all know, I just love Wonderfil’s lines of thread, and DecoBob is one of my favorites. I use it traditionally for my bobbins when I do embroidery, and it works wonders for that! It’s a nice 80wt thread, so a lot of it fits on a bobbin, and it even works great as needle thread for fine, delicate embroideries. Today, however, I am using it for stitch in the ditch quilting! It just disappears into the quilt! The thread is so fine, it goes almost unnoticed on the quilted pillow shams I made. I used quite a bit of this thread for quilting. I’ve actually been using it on table runners I’ve made, and it just looks delightful! I’ll post pictures of those tomorrow!

Fabric On Sale!!! I Bought It All!!!

Over the weekend I was at Walmart buying towels for my various embroidery projects, and I decided to check out what was going on in their fabric section. Now, I’m not going to lie: some Walmart fabric is not okay, but their fat quarters have never bothered be. I never buy any fabric without touching it to see how thin it is. I find I need to do this more and more often at fabric warehouses. Sometimes the quality of the grey goods is sub-par. I digress, I saw the clearance sticker on the fat quarters, and half yards… So I bought All of them! I bought 15 fat quarters, and 16 half yards. Continue reading
