I finally got this cute kid’s quilt done! I had the top sitting their forever and thought, it might be time to get cracking. I went for a random look with the blocks, and then decided on a simple lime green back, as well as lime green binding. I think it is just so cute. I’m not sure who to give it to though. I think it might end up on the bed in my guest room. It’s 84″ by 84″, so it’s like a mini-queen. Wish me luck!

I’m Playing With My 9° Wedge Ruler
First off: Wedge Rulers are amazing and now I require all of them! I bought this 9° wedge ruler about 15 month ago, and I never got around to using it. I had some craps left over the my Hexagon quilt and though, that would be a fun place to start with my wedge ruler. I’m making an over-sized pillow that’s going to be about 40 inches in diameter. ‘m still trying to figure out a proper center and how to make a decent backing. Wish me luck!
My Finished Hexagon Quilt
I powered through this quilt! I think I’ve gone berserk, but I finished it start to finish in less than a 24 hour period. I’ve only ever done that with really simple quilts! This was so much fun to make, and I have extra left over to make some awesome matching pillows! What do you guys and gals think?
Hexagon Quilt! It’s Not What You Think!
I love love love the look of hexagons! I’m an even bigger fan of their geometry! I’m quite the mathematician if you didn’t know! I love them, but I haven;t got the time or energy to do one of those exquisite paper pieced quilts! I love them to death, but paper piecing is not for me! I’m a little too rough and tumble when it comes to quilting for that. So I saw a table runner that had this same kind of general motif and I thought, “Well, hell. I can make a quilt from that idea!” So I did. I sat down, did the math figured out what my pieces should be and I cut away! Tell me what you think! I still have the bottom half to put on, but it is almost done! Wish me luck!
Redwork Blooming 9 Patch Is Finished!
I Finally Tackled Y-Seams!
For the longest time I had this UFO sitting in my closet. I designed it when I first started quilting as a wedding present to my cousin and his wife. However, it was a tad bit beyond my skill set two and a half years ago, and it got shelved. I was not good at y-seams. Now 30 months later I was rifling around in my closet looking for some red fat quarters for the Red blooming 9 patch I’m working on, and I found the box with the quilt contents. I popped it open and though… “Well, I’ve got the skills no, so no more excuses!”
I finished sewing it together in about 3 hours. I took it from a bunch of cut pieces to something completed. Now I just need to add some embroideries to the quilt top. Not sure what though… We’ll see.
Wish me luck!
Watching Netflix And Sewing
I’ve been binge watching “Hot Wet American Summer: First Day of Camp” on Netflix. It’s so bad, it’s good! Also while this amazing senseless drivel is pouring out of my laptop speakers, I’ve been sewing away on this Blooming 9 Patch! I just love the red-work vibe it’s giving off! The customer who ordered it said Red and White and do what I want. I’m so happy when people give me creative license. I feel so awesome about this quilt! I’ve almost got it all together, and hopefully I’ll start quilting it by tonight! Wish me luck!
I’m Working On A Blooming 9-Patch
I’ve been sewing away on this, and I thought I would post some pictures. I’m doing a white and red Blooming 9-patch and I wanted to give it a random chaotic kind of scrappy feel, so I mashed up a bunch of red fabrics I had. I think it is turning out just marvelous! Hopefully I’ll have the top finished by Saturday, and then I can quilt it Sunday. Wish me luck!
Logn Story Short: I’m Breaking The Scale
So, as everyone knows (because I blogged about it before) I got Bell’s Palsy. It was quite the wake up call! I literally thought it was a stroke. I was so worried, and I had an epiphany: I need to lose some weight.
As all of my sewing friends know: sewing is not a very physical activity. I mean, there is some bending and what not, but I need to make a serious effort to be active. I started going to the gym three times a week, and in the past month, I dropped 15 pounds. I’ve got a long way to go (100 more lbs), but it’s a start.
Anyways, the point is, I haven’t done as much sewing as I could be, because I’ve been working out and there just are a finite amount of hours in the day. I’ve been sewing some, as I’ve got a lot of commissions, but I had to slow down on the blogging. I hope all my readers can bear with me while I get my health on track. I’ll try to post more of my projects, but I can’t guarantee I’ll be able to do it every day! I promise I’ll try! Wish me luck!
Embroidered Feathers Pillow
I made a gorgeous pillow. I even used piping! That was a new experience for me, but I think it turned out well! Maybe I should do a tutorial on piping? It’s kind of confusing if you’ve never done it before. Anyways, I embroidered this pillow. It’s an Anita Goodesign from February. I think it turned out very well!
