I don’t know what your plans are tomorrow, but I’ll be hanging out at the Northwest Indiana Art and Comic Expo – NWI A.C.E. for short. I just finished embroidering these hats, and I’m super stoked to show them off! I’ve also got buttons, and pins, and all sorts of fun stuff! It starts at 11:00 tomorrow in Schererville Indiana! I really hope to see some of you there!
I don’t know about anyone else, but I use my embroidery machine for a hell of a lot of other things besides basic embroidery! I’ve done quilting, lace work, crazy-quilting, buttonholes and many other things. I bought it for embroidery, but it has so many uses! What are you using it for? Those of you who know about embroidery machines, know they are crazy stupid expensive, but they do a lot! They can be quite the multi-function machine!
So tell me, what are you using it for? And how?
Do me a favor and ignore the puckering in the photo. I’m almost done quilting it, and The puckering has gone away. I’m just so in love with this quilt. It makes me want to turn on Netflix and re-watch Daredevil and Jessica Jones. However, I’m getting ready to go to work, so alas, I cannot binge them right now.
The spiral motif on the quilt is actually done with my embroidery machine! I’m not going to lie, it’s super annoying and difficult to hoop anything close to the center of the quilt, but it’s totally worth it! It’s no secret to my friends that I love Twin Peaks! This new season is on hit! It’s confusing as hell, but I’m just so damn into it! Anyways, I made this Twin Peaks inspired quilt, called: Fire Walk With Me. And that verbiage is actually what it is quilted with. I used my embroidery machine, and digitized a couple versions of that phrase to stitch through the layers with. I also made a version of the Black Lodge symbol. The one that appears on the green ring. It’s kind of hard to read it all on the front, but on the back is where you can see all of this amazing stitching! I made it for a friend, but she doesn’t know it is for her yet. I think she’ll love it! More pictures after the jump!
Busy, busy, busy. That literally describes me these days. This was a productive weekend! I did break camp, and get some frozen yogurt with some friends… Totally worth it! So today was work, work, work. I finished the ‘Solar Flair’ quilt, and I’m wrapping up my Twin Peaks quilt right now. I’m taking a break from ironing the binding to write this. You have no idea how good it feels to have this quilt done. It’s been sitting around half finished in my basement for months! Actually, almost a year! Let’s not talk about that too much. Let’s avoid my UFO stash altogether, in fact.

Today, is a sad day. Quiltgate is getting deep, and I have fallen down the rabbit hole… I have more screenshots from the secret quilters group, now renamed “Conservative With Common Interest”. The Hate in these is ridiculous. One person even tells others to report quilters they don’t like to the IRS, and for what reason, other than to stick them with an audit to tie up their time. (This is literally accusing someone of a felony offense.) Other topics include Threads of Resistance, MQX, and Jinny Beyer. You know, a valuable lesson could be learned, and even should be learned. What you do in darkness always comes to the light! Once again, this is classified as bullying. Just bullying, plain and simple. I cannot stress enough how the activity outline in the follow posts is unacceptable. The longer this goes on, without any of these big named quilters standing up to hate, I become more jaded about the quilting community.

It’s 7am. I’m getting ready for work. I was thinking about a response I got yesterday evening… I must say, it’s a heck of a lot better than the last one! This one actually sounds thought out. Here we are, it’s 2017, and cities in the United States don’t have clean water. The title of this quit is ‘Flint’. If I need to explain it, you’re just not paying any attention. However, I feel like I’m in a giving mood, so let me break it down for you. Flint Michigan hasn’t had clean water for quite a few years already. They’re water is contaminated with all sorts of toxins, including lead. What also makes it note worthy, is the fact that it’s no longer in the news. It’s a beautiful Sunday, or at least it was… As I posted earlier about Linda Thielfoldt teaching at AQS, I had no idea the comment section was becoming quite the battleground.
