Crazy Quilt #2: Ready To Make The Panels

I was slaving over this hot mess of fabric all Sunday! Okay, well about 2 hours on Sunday, and I’m all ready to cut it into panels and then add the embroidery! I cannot wait to take this modern crazy quilt from cool to awesome! It is going to be just fabulous! Now I just have to pick a type of embroidery to do, and I can run with it!

Progress On My Crazy Quilt… Almost There

I cut more strips into it, and rearranged them. I only ave to do that about 3 more times and then I can add the embroideries, and then call it a day and quilt this darn thing! I love crazy quilts, but they just take up so much time! And Thread!

Project Update: Black and Red Crazy Quilt

I know it’s been a while since I posted anything about this, because it has been folded up in the other room. Haha. Now that I have a little free time, I took a break from the wonky log cabin quilt I’m working on, I decided to work on this a little bit. It still has a long way to go, but one of these days it will be fabulous! I guarantee it! I’m even teaching a crazy quilt class at the shop I work at in June! I’m so excited!

Finished This Scrap Quilt

I made this quilt top quite a while ago back in February and it has just been sitting out staring at me. So I finally decided to quilt it, and then I wanted to add something else to it, so I added some blooming bias! I just love it! Too bad I’m mailing it out to a friend, but I’ll just have to make myself one like it!

Working On My Next Crazy Quilt

Since I liked the last Crazy Quilt so much, I decided to do another one. This one will be shades of grey and black, and then all of the thread is going to be shades of red. I’ll also be teaching a class on this at the shop soon, so I better hurry up and make it! Now that I bought a new machine, I can do the decorative stitches at home, so I should be pretty far along by Monday morning. We shall see! Wish me luck!

Crazy Quilt Pillow Almost Done

Here is an updated version of the crazy quilt pillow I am working on. It is for a co-workers birthday, and I really hope she likes it. It will be a sample in her store for a while and then she can take it home! I even going to be teaching a class on it soon! I can’t wait to put the back on and shove a pillow in it!

Sneak Peek: My Return To Quilting

Thornton-20140312-01853

As a lot of people know, my Father was hospitalized last week, and I have just been running around doing everything I have to do around the house, and at work, so I haven’t had much time to sew, but I finally started up again, and it’s getting pretty intense! I’ve made 4 different quilted pillows, and I’m going to be showing one off each day for the rest of the week. I hope everyone likes them! The one above has appliqued circles, and then embroidery designs inside of them. I went with monochromatic embroidery, as I didn’t want to take away from the circles. I’m thinkiing about doing a table runner like this! What does everyone else think?

Crazy Quilted Pillow

I was working at the Indiana Sewing Center today and I was going to start work on the next crazy quilt, but then I thought about how cute it would be if I did a crazy quilted throw pillow. I am so in love! It was really easy to piece, and it was really fun to embroider, and it is a great way to use up all of my scraps! I still have to do the quilting on it, and then make it into a pillow, but I did all of the piecing and decorative stitches down the seams today. I think I did alright. For the next three months it will be hanging at the Kalamazoo Store, and then after that it is going home with the person I made it for. It’s her birthday present, and I know she is going to love it.

Crazy Quilt 1: Quilting Is Done!

I did it! I finally finished the quilting on my crazy quilt! This is probably one of the longest projects I have ever done. I don;t even want to think about how much thread was used! It was only half mine anyways. I did about half of the work at work, so that was at least nice. I cannot wait to put on the buttons. I even have them all picked out already! Hopefully it will be done by the end of next week! The next one is going to be blacks, and greys with red thread and sashing. I’m so excited!
