I Started Working On A Modern Bargello

I’m teaching a class at work on how to make a bargello quilt! I’ve done one before, and now I’m making a very modern looking one with some very gorgeous fabrics! I can’t wait to cut my strips later tonight! Although, I’m wondering if I should do something even more modern with different size strips, or if I should just stick with the same size strips… We’ll see!

Bargello Table Runner: Finished

I feel so happy I managed to finish the table runner, but also somewhat silly. I did not measure the fabric properly, and it is too large to fit on my dresser. It hangs over about 3 inches, and I just don’t like that at all. There are mirrors on the back of the dresser, so it hangs off the front, and then you can’t see the handles on the drawers and I’m just not feeling it… not feeling it at all. So I’m sending it in the mail to Ray’s Sew Crafty. She said she has plenty of dressers to put it on, so I’m happy it is going to a good place!

Binding The Bargello Table Runner

I said I was going to be productive and here I am trying my hardest! I just started the binding on my table runner, but now I have to leave to go to a doctor’s appointment, but when I come back, I’m going to finish the binding and then start on my next quilt! I promise! I cannot wait to put this on my dresser! First, I’ll have to clean my dresser! Then some yard work too. Busy buys busy! No rest for the wicked! Wish me luck on my productive day off!

Quilting A Bargello Table Runner

I started this table runner a few days ago, and didn’t get around to finishing it until last night. (I’ll post some pictures of the finished quilting when I put on the binding.) I decided to go with a non-uniform theme, for no reason, but just because I did not feel like being accurate while cutting it. Yes, sometimes my artistic side shows through brightest in the face if true laziness! I finished the quilting and now I just have to bind it, but then I got distracted by Sunday night TV. Nurse Jackie, Game of Thrones, Drop Dead Diva, and Once Upon A Time. It was a good Sunday for tv watching!

Quilted Throw Pillows!

As we all know, I’m just madly in love with throw pillows. I can pump out two of them in an evening. I made this one at work for a class I am teaching. It will be on Wednesday April 16th at the Merrillville Sewing Center. So, if you are in the area, you should definitely come and check it out! Anyways, here is the pillow. Originally I wanted to do a bargello pillow, but it was just not enough working space. I think I’m going to do a bargello table runner next though! Until then, I’m making one more throw pillow, and I’ll post that later! Wish me luck!

Quilting Design For Miss A’s Quilt

I think after a whole day of deliberation, and besides, it was too hot to do anything productive today. Between the stagnant air, and my lackadaisical attitude today, nothing really got done except some online work I had to do. But, between the periods of laziness, I did manage to draw out a design for the quilting on Miss A’s quilt. I really wanted to add to the bargello design, so I decided to do diagonals and then I’ll do something fun on the border. Not sure what that is yet, but we’ll see.

Miss A's Quilt with design

On to my next project!

Now that I finished sewing the Quilt Top for Vicki, and I’m not sure how to dye it yet, so I think I will move on to my next project. That is the quilting work for the Quilt for Miss A! I think I’m just going to stitch in the ditch for the body and then do something with a little more fun for the border. Not sure yet, but I’ll sleep on it and come up with something supper!

It’s Complete! It’s Complete!

Lakeville-20130703-00393

I did it! I made Miss A’s quilt! It’s so adorable! My first attempt at a Bargello Quilt turned out alright! It’s not perfect, but trial and error, right! It was my first stab at making a Bargello quilt, so if you look closely the edges are not perfect, and yes, it is a little annoying, but it’s okay. I’ll fix it with the border. I hope I can anyways. I already showed it to Miss A’s mom, and she adored it, so I hope Little Miss A will love it just as much! So, I’m done for the night, and will put the border on tomorrow. I was thinking about doing a border of solid purple. Yes, that sounds right!

The Bargello Pattern is Beautiful

Lakeville-20130703-00388

Sewing all of those giant strips was quite the task! Mainly, because I have a very light weight sewing machine that slowly moves towards me as I sew. I think with the next few quilts I sell I shall buy a JUKI! It took quite a bit of effort to continuously sew these strips. The electrician was coming back, so I only had about 2 hours to do this! So this is what I have so far, and as I was taking these pictures I heard the knock on my door, so once again, I am out of my sewing area and back in the living room! Anyways, I hope everyone likes the pattern so far!

Beginnings of The Bargello Baby Quilt

First off, let me apologize for the lack of posts today! I’ve had an electrician over fixing the ceiling lights in my sewing room, so I was unfortunately parted with my fabric. Although, in the past hour or so, we have had a very fabulous reunion if I do say so myself. I’ve started to make large strips of fabric for my bargello baby quilt, and I’ve been laying them across my floor and ogling them for the past few minutes! So, now let me share them with you!
