I don’t know why I didn’t put this up sooner, since it has been completed for quite a while, but here is the listing for my Tetris Quilt, as well as my Tetris Quilt Pattern. I’ve been commissioned to make a queen size one for Christmas, so as soon as I do that, I’ll have a pattern for that as well! I hope everyone enjoys these!
I was up super late, like 3 in the morning and I got some random ass inspiration, and I started drawing this up. Then I sat and did the math for the block, and then I picked out some fat quarters and went to town. By 4:30 I had everything cut and I started to lay it down on the table. Can you guess what this partially finished block is? One hint: It’s not a Mario mushroom.
It’s 11:00pm and I’m not sure which fabric to put on as a border. I was leaning towards the one with the fern leaves on the black background, but the grey is really framing it quite well. Any opinions? For those of you that don’t know, Zelda is an amazing video game, and part of it always takes place in the forest, so I’m really leaning towards the fern fabric, but I’m a little worried, because there is a lot of that fabric already in the quilt. What should I do? Or should I go to bed and figure it out tomorrow?
Sewing Introverts Unite! Or… maybe don’t unite, and just stay at home and sew! Seriously, it’s how I feel a lot of the time. I use sewing as an escape from the world. I see what’s going on in the world, and all I can think is, “Wouldn’t it be so much better if everyone just went home and sewed.” I don’t consider myself anti-social or anything, but I’m just not a super social person. I was a couple of days behind of my sewing projects, until today that is. Now I’m mostly caught up. I have to put on the border, baste and quilt it. So hopefully I’ll get that done over the next 2 days, and then I can start work on my next quilt. I was feeling a little overwhelmed, but now I’m back on track. I can’t believe I spent all day sewing, and also had time to make homemade meatballs, spaghetti and french onion soup. It was delicious by the way!
You know what they say, no rest for the wicked! So I must be down right dastardly at the rate I’ve been going. I have my serger which I only allow myself to play for 30 minutes a day until I am all caught up on commissions. I have a queen size quilt and a throw quilt to complete, and here is the queen size I am working on today! One of these days I’ll be all caught up, and then I can do something fun and awesome with my serger, like make 100 change purses in a day! Not sure why I would want to, but damn it, I want to say that I did it! Also, I think I’m going to get the gathering foot for my serger! I want to make something gathered on it, not sure what, but darn it, I want to make it! Now wish me luck so I can get back to sewing like a fiend!
So the other day I bought the piping foot for my serger. I love using it to put on zippers. It gives it such a nice close finish, so I think I found my new zipper tool. Here’s the tutorial on how to make these cute little bags. I also bought the gathering foot so I’ll play with that later when I make curtains. Maybe I’ll post some pictures of using the gathering foot later tonight. Wish me luck!
Well, the turkey is now in a stage of leftovers and most of the pie is gone, so I can get back to sewing. First, here are some sassy shenanigans to help everyone transition back to normal life after the holiday!
I can’t help myself! It was buy one get one free at Joann’s! I know you really only need to change the needle thread when you use the serger, but I’m making some change purses and I just really want the edges to look better, so I think the same color thread as fabric would be a better option.
