List Of Places/People I will Not Support

list.jpg

These are businesses I will no longer have any contact with. I’m not telling you to boycott or stop buying things from these people, but I have made a list of people who will not receive money from me, as I will not support someone who engages in this group of people. I did not list any personal information. I do not care what day job they have, nor will I ever contact any of their employers. I simply will not support the quilting of these people. I do ask that you not harass the people on the list. If I missed one, please comment, and I will update the list.

I did not make them available on my home page, so you have to follow the jump to see the list.

EDIT: Kelly Hanson has been removed from the list, please do not contact her.

  1. Norma says:

Thank you for adding my name in this mix, and for adding my posts. As people can see for themselves from my posts, I did not post anything bigoted, homophobic, foul, or hateful. I did not attack anyone’s career by sending letters, messages, or threats. I like you posted my opinion. Mine are not slanderous or threatening anyone unlike yours on the 3 blog posts threatening mine. Whatever. FYI, I admire Jamie and his art. I admire Karen and her art. I don’t admire Frank solely because of his blanket threats to everyone in the group just because they were a member, including myself. He might be a great guy. I may never know.

    • “We should start an anti-bullying campaign for quilters”
“Has anyone noticed any more screen shot activity?”
“I don’t see how any reasonable, decent person can call Frank Palmer a friend. I don’t care if he craps gold thread while he quilts.”
Then you talked about going to my page repeatedly to “look at stuff” and every time there’s a “visual assault of bs and crap”. Then you said, “ef him” and called me insane. It’s all on the screenshots.
So don’t give me this line of horseshit “He might be a great guy” because you already unleashed your hatred.
      Don’t play this victim game.
As for “I didn’t post anything bigoted, homophobic, foul, or hateful”, that’s not true. You did post those hateful comments and the screenshots are on my wall. Additionally, you remained a member, and commented on threads where others were saying some of the most vile and horrific things about other humans.
You are complicit, and you are a disgusting piece of shit, Norma. If I weren’t such a fucking gentleman, I’d post all the nasty gossip that travels around Hayward. Those nice Wisconsin quilt shop people not only gossip to you, they gossip ABOUT you. It’s how all the two faced little hate groups operate, and you’re a fucking pro.
If you admired Jamie and Karen, you would have stepped in to defend them. I don’t give a fiddler’s fuck what you think about me, but when they stomp on someone you admire, do you know what you do? You do what I did. You fight back. You don’t act like a little bitch and join in.
You fucking disgust me. You are evil and deplorable.

      • Disappointed says:

I’m sorry, but in reading these screenshots…. I just don’t see what you seem to be seeing. These women were having a conversation… it may have gotten a bit catty at times, but I fail to see how it warrants the over-the-top reaction they are receiving. They have been treated to more vileness over these screenshots than is necessary. Look at what we are doing….. Look at the name calling… and REAL business ruining that is happening here. LISTS? Why are we making lists? In the name of TOLERANCE?? Yes, some people in the “safety” of a secret group thought it was ok to speak their minds….. guess they know better now.

      • It goes beyond “a bit catty”. If it were directed at you, I believe your reaction would be different. If a letter writing campaign was aimed to destroy your livelihood, that isn’t catty, it’s shitty. And let’s talk about what WASN’T posted publicly. There were some incredibly revolting posts aimed people’s health care. Their ACTUAL lives. And after the exposure, how about reading the death threats I received? The threats to my pets? The threats to “put two in your fucking forehead”? This isn’t catty, and if you want to pretend that this is all “nothing”, well, quite frankly, you aren’t helping anyone. This has gone on long enough and the only way to stop it is to bring it into the harsh light of day. Sorry if that upsets your happy little world, but for the rest of us, it’s LITERALLY life and death.

      To quote you:
“For the life of me, I can’t see how any regular decent person could call Frank Palmer a friend. I don’t care if he craps gold thread while he quilts. Every time I try to go to his page to see his stuff, there is a visual assault of bs and crap. There is no blessing in his heart. He’s a lost cause and not worth my time. Ef him.”

You deserve to be on this list.

  2. Julie says:

Dear Sir, I will respectfully ask you to remove my name from this list. You will find no posts of me being homophobic, bigoted or racist. I have taken part in no campaigns to have any one fired or discredited.
I did join a conservative political group, because the current political climate on Facebook forced me to. I am allowed to have a different point of view, and became tired of fighting about it.
You can be gay, Muslim, black, a member of The resistance-
What you are not allowed in the quilting world is to be Conservative, or Republican. If you are, you are denounced. Much as you are doing now.
The fact that you had no involvement in any of this, but chose to insert yourself- tells me- you would like to make a name for yourself.
If you look at my screen shot, it is actually a copied post of Teri Donovan’s rant.
Of the 127 members, you chose a very select few.
I have no need to be silent.

    • Julie, you stayed in the group, even boasting about drinking wine while they were planning to announce who the mole is. You sat by while they trashed good people, and for that, you are on this list. I posted a much longer list and regardless of what happens to this one, you will remain on mine.
No involvement? Sorry, not buying your denial.

      • Julie says:

I did not make that comment. I would never ever put a child in the middle of anything. Look again.

      • You commented on that thread. Everyone saw it. You mentioned me in it. You didn’t stop them from attacking Karen. You are complicit and you are in the group, and you are therefore on the list. Nowhere do I hear an apology from you. That’s pretty shitty behavior. Whether or not you would actively put a child in the middle of anything, you sure don’t do anything to stop it. How is that okay? It’s not. And you can’t even deny that you were boasting about being in the group, waiting for info on the mole. Even after they named you mistakenly for being one, you remained in there, fully aware of the hatred they were spreading. You don’t get a pass. What’s next? Just following orders?

      • Rose Wood says:

Moldylock’s mother? Do you even know WHO Moldylocks is? Hint- it has nothing to do with Ms McT.
This whole claim about bringing children into it is another lie from the real hate group.
Doing what you think another is doing wrongly just makes you wrong.
        Have a nice day.

      • tdspringer says:

Rose Wood- the comment was made right under the video of Karen. Don’t tell me they weren’t referring to her. Don’t insult me or anyone else here. We aren’t the ignorant ones.

      • tdspringer says:

Actually, it was Dawn Larsen who made the comment. Julie commented further down…at no time did she indicate in any way that she didn’t go along with it. There are plenty of other places where Julie put in her $1.98 and none of it was nice.

    • tdspringer says:

Yeah and know this….she IS a nut job….or, more accurately I am a nut job….keep that in mind. By the way bitch, I prefer Quirky….but nut job (for defending my friends and for refusing to accept a friend request from a member of the hate group AFTER they were outed) will do in a pinch. And if we ever meet in person….I will SHOW you just how nutty I can be.

  3. Steffe says:

Thank you for the list, Eric! I think it is important to speak not only with words, but also with actions. In this case, not supporting those who hurt others based on differing beliefs is a great place to start.

  4. tdspringer says:

I don’t know which is worse…these people and their jealousy and hate, or the ones denying having anything to do with it even as we are reading their posts and comments. Julie and Norma, it’s bad enough being evil….then you compound it by trying to deny and back pedal. LOL…..you and certain people in our government need to learn…if you said it/wrote it….own it. If you own it and realize how horrible it was, try apologizing and don’t do it again.

BTW, I also find it amazingly ironic that a bunch of conservatives are whining about needing a “safe” place to talk. I think it’s snowing…

  5. LizA. says:

All I can say is “thank you” for putting names to this hate and intolerance. I, for one, will definitely not be doing anything to help these hurtful, bigoted, close-minded people earn a living. It is NOT acceptable to talk about people like they have been doing. The fact that they had to make their group super secret is very telling. I’m glad somebody pulled those white sheets off their heads. The fact that they all support a certain orange moron is very telling about themselves. I don’t care if you’re liberal, libertarian or conservative. But, when you actively attempt to hurt others and how they make a living by saying the things they have said, there is no way they can justify themselves as being a Christian because the first thing Christianity teaches is love and acceptance.

  6. Helen Ducker says:

I have never heard of any of these people or their businesses. So they are not big names in quilting, unlike the people they are attacking. Who am I ? A quilter since 1997, living in Tasmania, the Island State of Australia, who reads and buys quilting books from Japan, USA, Canada, UK, Europe, Africa, and of course Australia.

  7. HipsterSquirrel says:

I know a couple of these people and businesses and they are quite friendly and awesome people. I never heard of this “Frank”, though I’ve heard of Mctavish. Anyway, Frank and Karen are going way overboard – they’re just spreading more hate and fueling the fire. A never ending circle.

The businesses listed here that I am familiar with are first rate. I’ll continue my support for them. These people, like Frank or Karen – nasty, foul people, will never get my business… and more importantly will I never say a nice word about them to anyone else nor recommend their services.

      • HipsterSquirrel says:

I’m not in either group – not their conservative group or your social justice group. I don’t have a dog in the fight. I’m just standing up for a couple of businesses and artists on this that I respect.

People can say shitty things about people in public or private – time to thicken one’s skin. Two women complained to me that Karen was rude and unprofessional in her classes. As a business owner, I would never consider hiring someone who would offend my clients. Frank’s unrelenting and ugly behavior is no better. And this list is bogus.

You folks are doing your cause an injustice. You know why I can accept people in the gay community? Four of my friends are openly gay and they are the greatest people on Earth. Why do I tolerate people from different countries or people with different skin colors or people of different faiths? Because when you befriend them, you realize they’re human too and they will share their ideas, beliefs, and perspectives.

Diversity problems will never be solved with violence, bullying, hate, intimidation, lying, blackmail, and ignorance. Whatever side you’re on.

As far as people being nasty… that’s their right. But it is also time for a few people to grow up.

I might sound double edged, but I sent the conservatives a similar response.

As far as people being nasty… that’s their right. But it is also time for a few people to grow up.

As an outsider looking in, I’m so glad I’m not in either camp. Nor do I intend to be.

      • HipsterSquirrel says:

I did not say that. Did I not say both sides are wrong? Job performance should never be evaluated by sexual orientation, political views, religious views, ethnicity, etc.

What will get people fired or damage reputations is humans acting like a feral animals.

My point is… regardless of which camp you’re in, people need to realize that being a warrior for their cause isn’t the answer. Being an ambassador for your cause is.

This division among quilters is pointless. As is the division in the country right now. Nobody is playing peacemaker while alt-right and alt-left are at each other’s throats. Who gets hurt? Obviously the ‘warriors’ on either side. But also the community as a whole.

        What a senseless melee.

      • A senseless melee is spewing hate in a dark, secret corner of the internet. Given your logic, fighting back against the Holocaust is a “senseless melee”. Hate is real.

    • Well, I’m just standing up for those targeted behind their back by people who were hell bent on destroying their livelihood. If their actions are exposed and fucked them over, sorry, not sorry.
You aren’t an outsider looking in. You are clearly taking their side and gaslighting us with alleged friend connections. You heard from “two people” who said Karen was rude in class? Really? Karen isn’t rude in class at all. Who are these people? Karen has sold nearly 90,000 books and taught countless thousands of people, yet you’re hanging on to “two people told me”.
Sorry, but you’re taking sides and you’re pretending to be neutral. It’s disingenuous.
And since I’m exposing hate and bullying, that automatically makes me hateful and bullying? That’s projection, and it’s a typical, shitty, textbook response by people who can’t take responsibility for their actions.
This IS Frank, by the way, and I’ve fought bigger monsters than this group, and my business if just fine and dandy, thank you. Hateful people generally don’t use my services and I’m perfectly okay with that. You want to spread the word on me? Be my guest. I give zero fucks.
My machine is never empty and it never will be. Do your worst.
I exposed what was said in the group, and I exposed the membership list. I will never apologize for sticking up for those who were targeted. Instead of calling me names, perhaps these people should apologize, or ask what they can do to those who were hurt and damaged by it. That’s what good people do.
If you were one, you would already know that.

      • HipsterSquirrel says:

No, I really am neutral. I know several people who are hurt.

And you should stick up for your people. Reflect and ask yourself… is what you are doing any better? No. Same shit. Same results.

I want to stick up for my gay friends too. But behaving like school kids isn’t the answer. Perpetuating the hate back at people doesn’t solve anything.

And I did say the exact same thing to a few of the conservatives I know in the group. Somehow, they accepted the different perspective than you are.

      • HipsterSquirrel says:

@negativitysucks: A senseless melee is spewing hate in a dark, secret corner of the internet. Given your logic, fighting back against the Holocaust is a ā€œsenseless meleeā€. Hate is real.

To your credit, this is an excellent point. Share your perspective. I never thought of your persecution quite in this light.

You opened my mind a bit. One simple sentence that contained something of worth.

      • I refuse to help pay the bills of someone who is in a hate group. This group of women did not start out that way, but it sure ended up that way. They actively tried to be people harm under cover a secret group. That is shameful. I have openly, in the public forum, expressed why I am upset with them, and I will not support them.

  9. Squirrel does have a point …. 2 wrongs certainly doesn’t make this right.

That being said, I can’t believe some of the awful posts from this unsecreted group. I am a conservative woman, and can’t imagine thinking, much less WRITING some of this stuff. And, ultimate stupidity is posting crap on social media and expecting it to NEVER become public. Wow. Just stupid + unnice + catty + found out + loose lips sank this ship. Just wow.

My heart hurts with this one. I am 54 years young, and thought quilting was a rosy, warm place where many talented people of every background imaginable had a common platform … Love of quilting.

Karen is my girl crush, I love her artistic style and quirky humor.
I love Jamie … Btw, his rulers are Amazing. And I love all the videos he shares with community.
Others in this battle, I don’t know as well. But, I love talented people.

May peace, time, healing, and forgiveness find its way to bring us back together.

    • Perhaps two wrongs don’t have a right, but exposing hate isn’t wrong. The wrong thing is being nice to someone’s face, and then, behind their back, saying horrible things and sabotaging their livelihood.
What I did, in comparison, is expose them and tell them what I think of them so they can make no mistake and know exactly where they stand with me.
If the “Conservative Quilters” group (their name, not mine) formed that group to “celebrate the election” and voted for their candidate because he “spoke his mind”, then I have a hard time figuring out how they would have any problem at all with me. I did the same thing, and I did it publicly.
If that’s wrong, then they’re hypocrites. The facts are clear.

  10. Southern Quilter says:

I’ve been a quilter for 20 yrs and I’ve never heard of anyone that is involved in this. I’m unfamiliar with those on the secret conservative Facebook page side as well as those on the targeted for being unconventional side.
My new favorite quilting folks are Eric (Hi, Eric! I’m new here. You’re awesome.) and the quilters that were targeted. Standing up to hate, discrimination, & intolerance is the right thing to do. Always.
And to the commenter that goes by the name “Negativity Sucks,” I don’t know you but that post you made at 1:48 made me fall a little bit in love with you. Rock on, soldier!

  11. Ramona says:

If you don’t want people to read your bigoted hate speech you shouldn’t be posting it even in secret face book groups. Trying to ruin peoples business because you don’t like their liberal view points is just so repugnant and juvenile. Don’t you fat cow have anything better to do? Oh right…no you don’t. You’re miserable and want to make others miserable too. And while cloaking yourself in God’s image. Pathetic creatures.

  12. Barbie says:

Thank you for posting this list. I live in the red state of Texas and make it a point to never knowingly spend money on homophobic, racist or intolerant businesses. I will not patronize these folks and will forward the names to the two guilds I belong to. We guild leaders are working hard to support inclusive behavior and tolerance and will ensure no one on this list is ever invited to teach at guild events.

Now that I see the list I wonder how much jealousy and envy play a part in the backstabbing and mean spirited talk as truly NO ONE on this list is much of big deal in the quilting world. They only wish they had Karen McTavishes’s following and fans!
