I finally got around to finishing the quilt top! Now just to quilt it! However, I did take the time to make the pattern and I’m selling it with the Wilmington 40 Karat Black set. Check it out on Etsy here! Now

if you’ll excuse me, I have a commission Mario quilt to get cracking on! Wish me luck!

Sorry I haven’t posted lately, but I just got a new job which starts next week! I’m beyond excited! I’m really going to miss my current job, but It’s time for a change! Also more money! And we all know More Money = More Fabric! I’ll keep everyone posted! Wish me luck!

Working On A New Bargello Quilt Project

0811161726

MY friends and I decided to make some Bargello quilts, and I bought one of those 40 Karat Packs from Wilmington Prints, and I decided to add a splash of color with those two red strips. I’m really excited to see how this turns out. I promise to keep everyone updated! Wish me luck!

PS. I’ll be selling the kit for this project shortly! I just have to finish it first!

12 Ribbons

I think I did pretty okay at the Lake County Fair. It was the first show I had ever done, and I’m so happy I did it! I won two best in show ribbons. One for my Machine Quilted Quilt, “It’s Dangerous To Go Alone”, and another for my rug made from scraps of fabric and cording. I got a handful of other ribbons for some of my other work, including: River in Flames, and Alice in The Garden of Eden. I’m beyond words at this point. I finally got a chance to swing by there and take some photos, and it was so worth it! It really made all the hard work I put into quilting seem worth it! I know I shouldn’t need ribbons to make myself feel like I’m doing a good job, but it does make me warm and fuzzy! I had some very stiff competition; I’m already getting ready for next year. Next year my goal is 30 pieces! We’ll see! Wish me luck!

I’m Entering Show’s Again

Everyone knows how my favorite quilt was rejected by a quilt show, and I made the mistake of of taking it personally. However, now that my quilt has some legitimate credentials, I decided to start entering it in quilt shows. I know I need to grow a thicker skin, and not take things personally, but it’s still an effort. Wish me luck! I just filled out my first call to entry form tonight! I’m excited!

My Cousin Is Amazing!

DSC00231

I mean, I’ve always known she’s amazing, but I wanted to help get the word out! Last week, a friend and I went to the School of The Art Institute of Chicago’s MFA open studio night. I was astounded by not just my cousin, but the fine company she keeps as contemporaries; I was astounded by her work especially! I just adored the juxtaposition of images against different surfaces, as well as her play on light and dark. As a quilter, I’m always in some way, shape, or form working with light and dark aspects, as that is what really brings a quilt to life. Valerie’s studio was truly amazing! I’m very happy I went, – and for those of you who know me personally, know how much I hate leaving the house- and I’m even happier we’re related. Here’s to you Valerie Xanos – my favorite artist!

Best In Show

I can’t believe it! I won Best In Show at the Indiana Lake County Fair for my quilt “It’s Dangerous To Go Alone”. I’m not going to lie, I’m thrilled, and I worked so hard on that quilt. It came at just the right time, because I really needed it. When I submitted this quilt to a different quilt show, they wouldn’t even jury it in. I had put so much time and energy, and by this is by far my best quilt I have made thus far. I was really bummed about that for a couple of weeks, but this totally turned that around. I’m so grateful they liked my quilt. I won in a couple other categories, and I’ll find out everything when I go to the fair this weekend. I’m so happy!!!!
